Jil Sander Ginza

Jil Sander is proud to announce the opening of its largest flagship to date, a new store in Tokyo’s prestigious Ginza district. This is the brand’s second store conceived in partnership with the globally-renown firm Casper Mueller Kneer, after the opening of the London Bond Street flagship store.

Spanning more than 600 sqm over two floors, the store echoes creative directors’ Lucie and Luke Meier’s work on the coalescence of ideas, and their commitment to build durable environments, designed to wear and age well over time, integrating natural and re-used materials. The space features monochrome blocks of marble, brass architectural elements and timber pieces. Furniture elements are formed of recycled plastic from compact disc cases. The floors are carved out of stone, creating mineral, geological surfaces across two levels. Walls and staircase are made from a silver-blue travertine, rough honed or scored and textural.

Lighting is crucial to the experience. Studied to illuminate the environment as an artist’s studio, with a soft natural light, it creates an intimate setting. A dimension that feels personal and private, suggesting care and concentration. Structural balance and a sense of discovery.

A first for the brand, the store features an exhibition space dedicated to art installations. Here, the artwork of British sculpturer Rachel Whiteread, Bergamo II, integrates itself perfectly into the architecture of the design.

This store will feature an exclusive capsule of silver products. An homage to Ginza, with “Gin” meaning silver in Japanese, the capsule features a selection of signature items such as The 7 Days Shirt and The Cannolo Bag, uniquely distinguished with silver accents and materials.

The new Ginza store will also debut the brand’s new range of Fine Jewelry, an offering of distinct designs crafted in precious metals including white gold, yellow gold and diamonds.
