Logo Interpretation Project
documented by Larissa Hofmann
Filled with both surface and subverted meaning, Larissa Hofmann’s images hold a sense of pureness while exploring the gap between sensuality and abstraction. Concepts and meanings hide behind the grainy, soft-tinted images; they lay amongst the delicate portraits, within seductive feminine body parts and in the natural, colourful elements, quietly waiting to be uncovered.
The Berlin-based photographer took her images for Jil Sander with this same mindfulness and dedication, reinterpreting the new logo in a series of six pictures that feature the logo’s design softly blending with human bodies and urban landscapes. The unknown subjects – when present – are non-identifiable yet alluring, while a few images have been entirely emptied of human presence, providing a balance between aesthetic rigour and soothing physicality.
