Knitwear this season makes a strong fashion statement thanks to bold colors and a new graphic approach. Inspired by the artwork of Blinky Palermo and Robert Mangold, the menswear spring sweaters feature a variety of abstracted visual devices that create oversized pattern on a light canvas of fine wools and techno cottons.
The unconventional graphics are created in a variety of ways. Colored panels, for example, are knitted into the designs to create bold blocking and trims. Abstract lettering appears strongly in primary colors, while tone on tone patterns are created with jacquard-effect knitting techniques.
The shapes are streamlined and straightforward: T-shirt styles, pull overs and cardigans are offered in long and short sleeve variations. New this season are the layered pairings of knitwear: a cardigan lies over a crewneck which lies over a crisp white shirt. Fine merino wools and sheer techno materials create thin veils while a techno-cotton blend creates a more crisp body.
